Frequently Asked Questions
What is an SDS?
A safety data sheet (SDS) is a document that lists important risk-focused information about the occupational health, safety, and environmental use of a hazardous product. The SDS includes chemical properties, health and environmental hazards, protective measures, and safety precautions for handling, storing, and transporting a hazardous product.
What is Tier II reporting?
Tier II reporting is a system used by states to collect and publish information about the hazardous chemicals stored and used by an organization. Tier II is part of the Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act (EPCRA). The information compiled by organizations is sent to emergency response commissions, committees, and local fire departments. The data includes the name, location, and amount of each chemical stored and used, as well as any potential hazards, to provide first responders and the public with information that can help them prepare for and respond to chemical emergencies.
